Not at all. All that you need is a friend who has the game and
Netlink as well. Turn them on and have one friend call the other. The
Netlink had great potential, but Sega as usual dropped it when it wasn't
an instantaneous success, ignoring that they even failed to advertise
it. The first Netlink game didn't even come out until over half a year
after the Netlink debutted, so all that was left was to surf the net
with it, which grew old quick since it's deplorable in that regard, and
the initial web browser that came with it was so bug-ridden as to be
nearly useless. By the time the one-to-three games did come out it was
too little, and way too late.
