I never said they were designed right either. Java was the closest by
design, but the implentation is just as bad.

Agreed, though i do have a problem with enumerating the hardware (CDRom
drive) like it does too and exposing that...

Nope. The same applies to a Netscape plugin or a locally installed Java
class. All have full access and need to enforce any restrictions they
want. You can make a good argument for whether or not Eject should be
restricted for untrusted clients as that is the issue here not how Eject us
implemented.
