With A Little Help From My Friends (full)

Taped at the Genesee Theater in Waukeegan, Ill. 6/24/05

The surround mix is adequate, but a bit limited. Audience
"ambience" is
piped to the rear, as are some of the harmonies, but more often than not
it is mostly straight stereo. The performances are top notch, and Ringo's
voice holds up.

It is amazing how good Ringo looks good in HD. The extra resolution usually
emphasizes flaws, but not here. The beard and glasses may help hide a
multitude of sins, but Ringo has aged quite gracefully. Ringo has logged
the most HD hours, as his Tonight Show appearances, and most recent ASB
concert film (Chicago) were all recorded in that format.

Resolution alert #1: Mark Hudson's goatee dye job might be passable on
regular TV, but just looks silly here. :)

Ringo's Peter Max piano is more psychedelic than Paul's magical mystery tour
special.

Resolution alert #2: You can read the lyrics on Ringo's prompter.

"Now I'm only thirty two" (chorus "plus 32" :)

"I love this jacket so much, I don't want to take it off. I love to
sparkle!"
The jacket is somewhat reminiscent of Paul's "Wings over America"
sparklies.

Resolution alert #3: Count the sequins on Ringo's jacket.

"Here we are coming back."

"You're all a little lit up..." Double entendre there Ringo?

The woman joining in for WaLHFMF is Colin Hay's wife, Cecilia Noel.

MIA: The complete show included two additional numbers from Colin Hary,
Ringo on "Never Without You," and the Roundheads (sans Ringo) on
"You Can't
Do That," "Long Tall Sally," "I'm Down," and
"Oh! Darling."

The Roundheads are better than any "All Starr Band" assemblage
Ringo can put
together. They proved it on the "Storytellers" show, and they
do so here.
I really wish this group would go out on the road.

No other way to sum it up than "A splendid time is guaranteed for all..."
