fidonet, as a whole, could benefit from it and more of similar type numbers
to indicate the connection type instead of having to rely on *flags*..

  ie: 000-123-123-123-123 == telnet connection
      111-123-123-123-123 == vmodem connection
      222-123-123-123-123 == binkp connection
      333-123-123-123-123 == VPN WIFI connection
      444-123-123-123-123 == darknet fiber connection
      555-123-123-123-123 == lunar lightspeed laser connection
                             (expect delays of 4 seconds)
      666-123-123-123-123 == mars lightspeed laser connection
                             (expect delays of 10 minutes+)

see?? can't we (try) to look more into the future and attempt to possibly
think about trying to maintain fidonet into the far future no matter what
else is done? all it takes is some vision and acquity as to the
possibilities that could be handled with a simple "addition"
rather than requiring flags upon flags upon flags...
