subject: IBM AntiVirus - Update

Earlier, I wrote: "... it occurred to me that I was updating the files

Emergency Disk" that came with IBMAV and is intended as a means of
recovering from virus attacks that prevent the computer from booting

updated ones ..."
Replacing those three files on the Emergency diskette works just fine.
It even reports the new update version when it starts up.
Unfortunately, for my purposes, neither the original nor the updated
versions are able to access the lettered partitions on my hard drives,
as they are all formtted HPFS and the Emergency diskette runs IBM-
DOS v7.0. That's exactly what the IBMAV documentation said would
happen :( The solution I found to this problem was to add a diskette
to my BOOTOS2 diskette set. I used a 5.25" diskette to run from
drive B: after booting from 3.5" diskettes in drive A: The new
diskette contains the following IBMAV files:
     7-20-97 8:30p 1021 0 ADMIN.PRF
     7-20-97 8:28p 374 0 EXPIRE.MSG
     7-20-97 8:27p 17372 0 IBMAVSH.COM
     7-20-97 8:28p 425472 0 IBMAVSP2.EXE
     7-20-97 8:28p 303 0 LOCAL.MSG
    10-30-97 5:46p 14283 0 SHSIG.LST
    10-30-97 4:51p 137455 0 VERV.VDB
    10-23-97 3:45p 398143 0 VIRSIG.LST
ADMIN.PRF was copied from the original Emergency diskette, as I found
that it differs slightly from the one installed on the hard drive.
The remainder (including the updated virus files) were copied from the
hard-drive IBMAV directory. IBMAVSP2.EXE is the OS/2 version of the
"stand alone" IBMAV program. I tested this setup (booting from
floppies) and it ran properly. Hope this will be helpful to the OS/2
users of IBMAV. Windows95 or NT users probably can work out something
similar.
The next step is to write a batch file to update the diskette AV files
automatically after the hard drive files are updated.
