Hi, Rob;

 MV> ... What kind (maybe model and manufacturer) would you
 MV> recomend for mono or dualband (2m and 70cm) operation? Telescope is the
 MV> best choice if you do not need flexibility, but I need it. So I am
 MV> wondering. Rh-77 a like? Komet 77S alike? I'm open for suggestions.

 RD> Miha for a 2m only hand-held try to get a Larsen `Khul-duckie'
 RD> (thats is its name) rubber duck.
 RD> For a dual-band hand-held try a Diamond RH-77.
 RD> The RH-77 is  a 1/4 wave on 2m and a 1/2 wave on 70cm.

Excuse me? If it's 1/4 wave for 2M, wouldn't it be 3/4 wave at 440?

 RD> I have used both at one time or another and they work very well and
 RD> are sometimes far better than the antenna that comes with the radio.

Rule of thumb for antennas: As long as it's resonant, the bigger the
better.
