the problem with using zone 7 in fidonet is that there is/was a zone 7 used
in an othernet (another FTN style network) and it would cause hardships for
folk who were members of fidonet and that othernet (i can't remember the
name of it at the moment)... that othernet may be non-existant these days,
too... in that case, there would be no hardships...

in any case, to create another zone would require the concensus of the ZCC
and/or IC and all zones would need to accept the Z7 segment and process
it... additionally, all systems _may_ have to alter their setups to allow
for Z7 in their configs... some folk only use certain zones in their setups
and have configured their software to ignore anything not in their
"allow list"...
