RS> Poor old Keef, STILL hasnt noticed that there are drives out there
still using that one rod? such a pity that you picked on a name that has
been used in my family as a term of endearment for years. you really
aren't doing too well lately are you (:

i don't seem to remember mentioning lba as the only way of doing it
anywhere rod, i do seem to remember saying that ata-2 drives could not
present more than 16 heads, and that the translation was done either on
the motherboard, or ide adaptor board. this seems to be exactly what you
are saying now, a bit of a change from your original stand that the
**drive** could present more than 16 heads. still had no luck finding
such drives then?
RS> You really are fucking thick arent you Keef ? Presumably that explains
RS> why you manage to still get lumbered with shift work after all this time.
you really are out of touch with the world of professional computing
aren't you rod? in the purges of the last few years, the thickies went
in the second wave, right after the middle managers. i work shift when
the need arises, i am democratic enough not to pull rank, and force the
unfortunates who have to do it most of the time to give up even more of
their lives. with your attitude to the wonts of others cant see you
doing that somehow (:
i do notice that you have deleted the bit about the fuckwit who reckoned
that every pc comes with dos and windows, kind of uncharacteristic for
you, i wonder why that could be (:
corse, i didn't even get round to the character that reckoned that it is
impossible to do a low level format on embedded servo drives, showed
that one to a few people that make their living out of such things,
produced much hilarity, that a "disk expert" had such little knowledge
of how the things actually work. i suppose that it is much easier to
understand the jumper settings than the basic principles.
