It is true that such a "counter-planet" is one of the 5
positions of the Lagrangian solution to the 3-body problem. But
if there is any other body orbiting the star in this system, this
position becomes unstable. Add that it is quite improbable that
such a body would form in *exactly* the same orbit as the planet
that it's counter to.
You can probably save believability with minimal revision,
though--have the planet be moved or constructed there, with some
means of stabilizing the orbit.
(BTW, be prepared to be asked if you've read the only sf
series to use the notion of a "counter-Earth." The _Gor_ novels
have a certain, um, reputation.)
