that is fast... check out the silicon chip kitset www.altronics.com.au
cataloguie number K1120 (if they still stock it) about 34 of our aussie dollars
prolly about 20 of yous delivered, some skill with a soldering iron requred
to fit the suface mount ic but otherwise fairly easy to build.

The worst feature is the tuning slug which sometimes sticks in the barrel
range is about 30 metres ime (that's the 100 feet you asked for)

with a 3ma current requirement it'll run for months from a single AA cell.
