| subject: | Choice Of C++ Compilers |
OK, I will look on this forum for help, thanks. I am an experienced mainframe COBOL programmer who is in school learning to switch fields for the second half of my career. I don't have much money, I have Borland C++ Pro 3.5. I can get Visual C++ at a student rate. I would prefer a compiler which I can use to create OS/2 apps, but not as much as I would prefer one which gets me a job. I have taken C courses, am currently taking object methodology and will be taking C++ courses this spring unless I get a job which will be requiring too many hours at that time. (I am working on my masters). Contract jobs can pay well and give me time to go to school - but they can use lots of time and they can run out (as my last one did). I think I would like a compiler which supports HP's Standard Template Library. The only C++ compiler I see mentioned by name in the want ads is Microsoft's. I currently boot to a Windows 95 partition to run Visual Basic.
