BL> Yair... I understand this now, but that's not ideal. A huge
BL> file could end up getting moved all around Australia.

PE> What the fuck are you talking about Bob? IF MAIL IS ON HOLD
PE> WAITING FOR ANOTHER NODE, THE OTHER NODE DOESN'T NEED TO
PE> FREQ IT, HE JUST HAS TO CONNECT, AND HE GETS THE FILE
PE> WHETHER HE LIKES IT OR NOT.

BL> Yes... and if Rod Gasson's board connects, it gets moved to
BL> Adelaide at the sysop's expense instead of Rod's. Are you
 BL> thick...OR JUST DEEF?

If it addressed to .whatever (RodG's point address) it would go to his
BossNode under only two conditions:

1/ Rod's Bossnode presents RodG's point address as an AKA
2/ Paul maps FILEs for RodG's point to be held for his Bossnode

PE> So long as he uses a point address that no-one else is
PE> using, there shouldn't be a problem, because I allow people
 PE> to send/receive messages from me, even if I don't have a
PE> password with them. Of course, they can't send me echomail.

BL> Oh? A false point number with no password? That makes it
BL> very simple! You could make 666 a standard number and call
 BL> if DevilDrop.

Exactly. Or use "MXLPLX" for a number of systems who all present
there own address plus the others in the group as AKAs, so the file goes to
the first who calls. Great for getting files to a different Net (where
everyone agrees to it)...

BL> FileAttach wouldn't work because he is not your point,
PE> So what if he's not my point?

BL> If he's not your point, I'd have to send the FileAttach by
BL> netmail to his real address, and then the sytem would send
BL> it off to his node at the sysop's expense.

The message would continue, the FILE would be held at the first system to
place it on hold or dumped by the first to strip it, whichever came first
in the path. If Paul sets up to hold, then it stays at TML waiting a poll
by the recipient...

 BL> In this case, I could make it work by sending two Netmails;
BL> one to the real Rod Gasson wherever he is on Earth, telling
BL> him that I had attached a file to another Netmail addressed
BL> to Pothead McFucknuckle at 3:711/934.666... but how would he
BL> get his McFucknuckle mail (and the file attach) if you don't
 BL> let strangers use netmail?

If Paul sets up his ROUTE.CFG to allow it, the file will wait at TML for
RodG to poll... No need to send it to anyone at TML. If you want several
people to get a file, you have a problem, but it should be easy to set up a
robot at TML to serve file distribution lists to a bunch of people using
dome sort of broadcast message (then the file would be on TML until deleted
as each .HLO would not delete the file)...

BL> I have a deep suspicion that one of us is an idiot, Paul,
 BL> and I don't think it's me... but an idiot wouldn't know,
 BL> would he?

It all depends on Paul's setup which of you is wrong here. No it doesn't,
you are an idiot, Paul's setup simply determines if this service will work
for you TML point types. Anyway Paul's an idiot, so it doesn't matter. (I'm
trying to help both of you - that probably make me an idiot too...)
