I have a Loggins & Messina live-in-concert album recorded on Columbia
Records in 1973 and released in 1974 called "Loggins & Messina On Stage"
that has the song on it. So the song is at least dating back to 1973.
You might want to search 70s music bins or look up Kenny Loggins'
Greatest Hits-type of recordings (if his record company issued such a
thing for him). As to who covered it, I don't know. You might want to
call the radio station you heard it on. Large record chains might be
able to look this up in their inventory. Try calling 1-800-ASK-TOWER
for Tower Records, they can look up artists and titles and ship CDs or
cassettes to you via FedEx.
