Make that 100%. I used vModem with intermail for years while I still
had OS/2. It worked fine. I made it send the string for the IP
address to the modem as alphabetic characters, and vModem made the
connection for me.
I had one node I used as dial-up via POTS and another for internet via
vModem.
I don't remember exactly the form that was used for the IP address,
but seem to recall that it had to be in quotes (") and maybe something
had to be done with the full stop (., aka period) marks.
