CM>> They were much more vocal - and organised. The Vx crowd was always

KW> which sets me to thinking... do you suppose that the current level of
KW> disorganization and lack of communication of innovations could spell a
KW> "vx darkages" when the current generation finally grows up and finds
KW> more interesting things to do?
CM> Maybe but I doubt it. Many of them are now on the "net" and are vocal
CM> and semi-organised there. There is more anoninimity and they feel less
 CM> threatened by exposure.
i don't know about those on the net... sure there's plenty of viruses
available on the web, but you still need communication between the
writers or they'll stagnate... and the vx'ers i'm seeing in usenet are
not (for the most part) innovators in the slightest.. i suppose things
could still be going strong in that irc chat room i used to hear about,
but how are the new guys going to find it if the geezers don't descend
to the mortal plane once in a while and give the wannabe's a helping
hand?
KW> of course now, blatantly and offensively pro-virus views are against the
KW> rules and offenders are subject to banishment... and traffic is WAY
 KW> down...
CM> Yes. That is because so many people have disconnected from BBS's in
CM> general and gone to "the net" where spam rules supreme and charges are
 CM> everyday.
it's also because contraversy was usually responsible for a significant
portion of the traffic, and now that the most provocative views have
been banned we're left with av views on anti-viral issues...
and correct me if i'm wrong but i seem to get the feeling we're all way
too tolerant of each others idiosyncracies to have many contravercial
discussions...
CM> This compares to "those nasty BBS's who threatened to charge
CM> us" and other such rubbish. I've noticed quite a few have returned
CM> though. The thinking ones first as usual as they realise we are
CM> actually pretty good (and cheap).
 CM> And faaaaaast! in comparison.

but decentralized... if i want a file on your bbs, i have to call your
bbs, i can't get it from my bbs..
CM>> Eggzactly. Thats old age creeping up on you Kurt. You get more
CM>> tolerant as you get ancient.

KW> i'm ancient? i'm still under the quarter century mark...
 CM> Oh-god! Your positively ancient then !
CM> You are over 10 so you =must= be old. Ask any 10 yr old.
 CM> I won't mention my age then. :)
to be perfectly honest i didn't really mention my age... i just said i
was still under the quarter century mark... 10 is also under the quarter
century mark... i could be 10 for all you know... even though i'm in
university i could be some child prodigy or something...
... i am behaving myself, this is just like me...
