PL> Brian,
PL> Your post came to me via Netmail,
PL> But the answer to your question as to why they don't list Win 3.1 as
PL> an operating system, simple. It's no longer made!!!
Which isn't quite the same thing as not being available. I know of several
places where you can still get a Windows 3.x license. I wouldn't be at
all surprised to hear Microsoft saying that they don't produce/sell
(or support) 3.x anymore. But that doesn't mean that software companies
have stopped developing for it.
PL> Your not being mislead, but if a setup is no longer available they are
PL> not going to advertise it. Besides, ANYTHING!!! that is Win 95
PL> compatible has to be just that, they want to sell Win 95, and after
PL> this year Win 98, and so forth...
Not entirely true either. Many 3.x apps will run under 95, and
purportedly some apps for 95 will run under 3.1 even though they
aren't touted as such. (I can personally attest to the former if
not the latter.) I agree that they usually will list the *minimum*
OS level required to run the game, though, and if you don't see
"Windows 3.x" shown, it's a fairly good bet that you will have
trouble running the product under that "OS."
... Pardon me, but would you have any Blue Poupon?
