That is indeed a factor, if it was an import

Bud and Corona are both being brewed in Canada these days by
Labatt's. They are all Anheuser-Busch InBev brands now. But they are
priced as if they are imports.

They also own Kokanee now but they haven't messed with the formula
(yet.) It a dark lager, quite malty, reasonably hopped, all barley,
no rice or corn, and is a full 5% ABV.
