I had a flat tire on my 51 Ford Victoria, maybe 35 (1961) years ago.  It just 
so happened I was within walking distance of a junk yard that would be 
closing in a few minutes.  When I got there, they had closed early.  I knew 
these guys, so I jumped the fence so I could get to the shack one of them 
lived in.  I was maybe 50 feet from the shack when a St. Bernard with the 
meanest looking snarl put both of his front paws on my shoulders.  He was 
taller than I was, which isn't much.  5' 5" or so...  The guy in the shack 
heard the dog's growl and stuck his head out the door.  After he told the dog 
it was OK, I bought a wheel and tire and went on my way...
It's true what they say about junk yard dogs.
... The better the 4x4, the farther out you get stuck...
