Howdy Paul,
just browsed through your interesting HF-report, keep the stuff
coming !

These guys are one of my favourite mystery-nets at the moment
(of course Nr. 2 behind KUL & Co.), so I have spent quite some
time, studying this net.
This is what I found out so far:
- Operational messages are transmitted in French, using bit-
inversion (letter A = BBYYY; letter B=BYYBB; letter C=YBBBY....)
(Code3 users set decoder to Mask 31)
The station you heard on 16126.50 doesn't actually use 'BPXL' as
a callsign ! The 'BPXL', which is repeatedly sent, is actually
'ID-linefeed-F' and seems to be part of the synch. process.
- The stations are located in time zone UTC +1 hour
(see sample messages)
- callsigns heard on the circuit are '0VL', '4AZ', '5HP', '5VG',
'8NN' and 'ZKD', although there are at least 10 stations involved
in the net.
- 'ZKD' seems to be net-control
I assume these stations are located in Algeria or some other French
speaking North African country. Europe as a location is unlikely.
My guess is MoI Algiers, in contact with the different prefectures
throughout the country.
Here are some selected op. messages monitored this summer :
frequencies usually 16124 +/- QRM (depending on the QRM from
'RFQP' on 16125,20)

looks very similar. [That's why Ary and me call it the

I hope the M-7000 can receive bit-inverted transmissions,
otherwise you'll only see garbage.

This is what a bit-inverted msg. from these folks will look like
in normal ITA-2:

I have 'RFTJC' listed as COMFOR Cap Vert !
Perhaps 'RFTJCS' is a sub-unit. See also my DEC 94 log, where
FNY Cap Vert appears on two channels (ARQ-E3-100).
KAC:
---
At what time and on what frequency did you catch the QSF message
by 'KAC' ???
Did you receive my QSF net-mail to you ???? (note same date in QSF
message on the European circuit)
regards
and merry X-mas to you
