Last fall our fairly large (18"diameter x 9" high) cactus and its
smaller kid brother blossomed with many blood-red double flowers that
lead us to feel we had some Zygocactus truncatus, "Thanksgiving" cacti.
After a relatively quiet, dormant winter in a cool south-western
dormer window (only watered every 4 weeks or so when soil was
relatively dry); lo the plants are produceing abundant blooms again.
Had I not seen the late fall blooms I would surmize we have a "lenten"
cacti (botanical genre not known).
Is it usual for cacti to have more then one annual blossomings ?
Ciao, Ack.
