 Hello again Bruce
I sent you a post yesterday about your preferred method of payment for
Pilgrims Progress. I know Fido mail can be a bit unreliable, so if you
didn't get my message about preferred payment methods you may wish to
 get back in touch.
Well, the reason for this letter. Since I'be been here in "collectables"
you appear to be the expert when it comes to old books.
As I've mentioned previously, I have no interest in "fiction", although
every now and then I get swayed by an inscription in and old book and
my heart rules ...I know I'll never read that book on fiction and the
love of old things will find it hard to give it away or sell it, so it
will just sit on my book shelf until the day I die...seems such a waste!
So here's my question....as a fellow lover of old books can you point
me in the right directions....I don't know how much this is considered
off-topic here, but I'm starting to collect old books, just for the
 pure enjoyment of them.
I don't need to value them, but would like a few tips on how to make a
more "informed choice". I Know "condition" is relevant, but most books
about 100yrs old don't seem to be in even good condition, at least not
when they make their way down here..
So here's what I've collected so far..
The Master of Ballantrae by Robert Louis Stevenson 1889
Butler's "Analogy" and Modern Thought by Alexander Richard Eagar 1893
A Short History of England by Cyril Ransome M.A 1913
The New Groundwork of British History by Warner, Marten & Muir S4 1939
Poems of Action selected by V H Collins ca 1942
A Garland of Legends compiled by Ernest J Kenny 1943
Oliver Twist a Whitcombe' Story Book published Sydney ca 1944
London Homes by Ralph Dutton , part of The Londoners Library 1952
Mater Mariners by John R Spears, Home Uni. Library Mod Knowledge ????

I know most of these are considered "old" but just listed them anways
for this reason...what is considered an Antique Book. 100yrs maybe?

I've just found a local book shop that "deals" in these old books. I
would like to buy "fiction" especially those that add to my genealogy
interests (Like "London Homes" mentioned above) as I especially enjoy
a book with nostalgia and old photos.
I look forward to hearing from you
 Mandy
