TIGHT AT THE TOP AS FORMULA ONE BREAKS NEW GROUND

Juan Pablo Montoya (BMW WilliamsF1 Team/Michelin) was second fastest on
the opening day of practice for the inaugural Bahrain Grand Prix. The
Colombian was just 0.001s adrift of Ferrari rival Rubens Barrichello.
Times were very closely matched throughout the field and less than nine
tenths of a second covered the top 10, which featured five Michelin
teams. BAR Honda test driver Anthony Davidson was third overall and
second best of the Michelin runners, just 0.037s behind Montoya. The
fastest drivers from Michelin's six partners were covered by little more
than a second.
