  Here's an idea although a remote possibility. I once had a floppy =
drive that
  would show the files on the first floppy you put in but after changing =
it
  and doing a dir you would see the info from the first floppy not the =
current
  one. The problem was a bad floppy cable.

  I wonder if a bad CDrom cable could cause something similar?
