I have several citrus trees in my yard. I have picked grapefruit
on several ocassion and had the same thing, a seed sprouted
inside the grapefruit and even little green shoots. I've never
had that happen with any of the other citrus, oranges,
tangelo's, lemons or limes. I have no idea on the how or why
though, just that I've seen the same thing on more than one
ocassion. The only possible explanation I have it the fact that
grapefruit will hang on the trees in usable condition for many
many months. Other citrus have about a 3 month period when they
are ripe and good.
