SVI> Also _Gong_ in concert (next day, same place). I don't know anything
SVI> about Gong. Are they ProgRock? How do they sound? Should I go?
Which Gong? The original was Daevid Allen's group, heavily into
psychedelia with a mythology of pot-head pixies attempting to bring
enlightenment. The early Gong stuff is wonderful if you like
guitar/synth based prog rock, and Steve Hillage is a splendid
 guitarist.
The band split up in the 70's, with most of the band except for Allen
and Gilli Smyth retaining the name and moving toward a jazz fusion
sound. Allen has been back gigging with Daevid Allen's Gong, but I
don't know offhand who is in his lineup.
Either is probably worth seeing, but expect different kinds of music.
