subject: modem speaker

 RH> Hello can anyone help me with my modem speaker?
 RH> I have tried the at commands but I still cant get any sound from the
modem
 RH> it used to work? I think that somehow I may have written in a command
too
 RH> the permanent file of the modem...that turns the speaker off.
ATMx and ATLx are the only command sthat should affect the speaker. ATMx
dictates when the speaker is on, and ATLx dictates the speaker volume.
ATL  = low volume
ATL2 = medium
ATL3 = high
ATM  = speaker off
ATM1 = on until carrier is recieved
ATM2 = always on
ATM3 = off while dialing out, on while answering
You can also try restoring your factory settings with the AT&F command.
AT&F1 is for MACs
AT&F2 is for IBMs
Hope that helps.
