RW> RTPGET is a third party tool, though, isn't it?
...Yes and no: it's a component I wrote and linked to my own RTPLIB.
RW> I think you should be able to do that, using an index with a function
RW> attached to it (but I'm not sure exactly why you would want to do
 RW> that).
...Yust tell me HOW I can make an index with a function attached to
it, pleasy! And let me do the worrying WHY... ;-)
But I'll give you a clue: birthdays...
RW> Delphi 1 is harder to deal with the same database on multiple forms.
RW> You can do it (I finally figured out how), but it isn't easy.
...To me that's the understatement of the year...
RW> Delphi 2, it makes it really easy to have a "Datasource form" that
RW> contains all your databases, etc, and you just include it in all your
RW> forms, then address the components as such:
 RW> DataSourceForm.Component.Property
...Strange you still got to open the databases on every form. Once on
the main form should be enough.
But then I'm not going to buy Delphi 2 or 3 when I'm not managing to
make this language work for me. First I need some proof that Delphi
is a language I can work with. Screenpainting is a sheer delight. But
the engine underneath is giving me hell.
RW> Blow away! But don't give up....
...I don't give up that easily. But for the time beeing I still keep
my eyes and ears open for alternatives (Clarion, CA-Visual Objects
 2.0, Visual dBase)
 RW> Just don't use VB....
...No, although VB is a lot more common to me than Pascal. But VB has
for what I understand of it no sufficient database capabilities.

RW> I learned what I know by myself. Also, see if there is a Delphi user
 RW> group where you live.
...I have that area attached, but some people there don't want to
help because I earned some money with my Clipper- programming. Others
DID give me some excellent hints though!
Thanx for 'the belt under the heart' (Dutch expression for giving
 someone support...)
 Cu,
 Ron
