As you probably know by now, the problem initially with Word97 was
saving files in older formats. I would think making "assumptions" that
users would follow along in the upgrade chain is pretty arrogant too!
I've found with quite a few programs that I had better archive the
data in a previous format before conversion, just in case anything
happens to the upgraded program and I have to revert to an earlier
version.
