1237b27e4706 tech Hello Tom - RJT>>> What's an ".m3u" file? Don't think I've run acrosws that RJT>>> one before... ->> It's a 'redirect' file containing the _actual_ location of ->> the MP3 file (the URL). For some reason no one wanted to ->> let MP3 players assume they were supposed to stream an MP3 ->> file? The '.m3u' extension tells the player to buffer/play ->> the music as it downloads. TW> It also prevents you from downloading the music file itslef TW> by right clicking on the mouse and saving it. All you get TW> is the redirect file. True but honestly that's not why they are there. There is no other way to initiate streaming that I can find. The music file actually does get written to your hard drive in the process, you only need to know where your 'temporary internet files' are and move it to another directory somewhere. People see my '.cgi?' in the code and think I'm planting cookies or something. It's just a server-side Perl script that counts accesses so that I can drop unpopular files and put new ones in their place. At 1meg or more each I can't keep adding files to the server without removing those no one is interested in. Knowing what it is that people like would make me rich if I was good at it but I'm not and need the counters there. :-\ btw: I've put over a half-dozen new music files on the music page with the early "Puttin on the Ritz" and the Disney/Alladin version for comparison. Rawhide with banjos if you like banjos. :-) > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ ___ * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
