We're deadly sreious.  Our reservoirs are lower than they've been since
1947.  There's not enough water to irrigate 10 percent of our
agricultural land, and even a disasterous hurricane wouldn't wreak the
fiscal damage on our economy that losing our agricultural base would.
Everybody in this area is involved with agriculture in some way, and if
the farmers go broke the whole damn area will.  They didn't call this
the Wild Horse Desert for nothing!
As for the smoke, the Air Quality Control Board, finally got off
their duff and discovered that we had serious health hazards fron the
Guatamalan smoke and declaired FIFTY counties unfit for outdoor
exercize.  After only TWO WEEKS! of it.  I'm certainly glad it wasn't
SERIOUS!
