--> Quoting Thom LaCosta from a message to Sean Dennis <-- TL> What IRC channels are used by a large number of Othernet folsk? I personally hang out on irc.oddnet.net/6667 on channels #bbs and #chat. There is another BBS-centric network called BBSnet at irc.bbsnet.org/6667 (#bbs ¨there also), but because my personal feelings towards the person who now owns ¨the network, I stay away from there as much as I can. I consider BBSnet to be ¨like FN_SYSOP and FIDONEWS-you know my feelings about that. :) There's one more network that isn't BBS-specific that I hang out on ¨occasionally. It's called Dropnet. You can get to it via: irc.teardrop.ca irc.cfbbs.net irc.mystica.cx All at port 6667 and the "main" channel is #dropnet. Myself and a few other ¨former sysops hang out there, but it's mostly idle. I know that Oddnet has a website (http://www.oddnet.net), but I don't know ¨about the other ones. BBSnet has some of the "big guns" of BBSing (e.g. Rob ¨Swindell, Maarten Berkers [I think I spelled his name right], several door ¨authors) on it, but unfortunately, it's battle of the egos. I myself generally get on Oddnet for information mining, but all of the IRC ¨networks I mentioned suffer from massive idleness. They're only active ¨overnight, I've found. I was trying to find Joe Jared's IRC server because I know you, Carol and Janis ¨are on there occasionally, but no dice as of late. :) Later, Sean --- Telegard/2 v3.09.g2-sp4/mL* Origin: Outpost BBS - outpostbbs.us (1:18/200) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 18/200 140/1 106/2000 633/267 |
