PENDLETON, Ind. (April 2, 2004) - The American Speed Association has tabbed 54-
year old Mike Staley of North Wilkesboro, N.C., as the Tour Director of the
newly named
ASA/SMART tour, a re-branded version of the former Southern Modified Auto Racing
Teams.

"I've known Dennis Huth (national director ASA Member Tracks) and Randy Myers
(SMART vice-president) for a long time," said Staley, a member of the national
motorsports commission. "They both thought I might be the right guy to
move into this
role. I see it as something new, and an exciting challenge."
