I know little about this but a previous post in another echo indicated a good 
option was to find local talent looking for exposure who will offer play 
their orginal music for your use at low cost. It takes work but offers you 
the opportunity of using music that fits your needs at lower cost.
Popular music by name performers is very expensive. 
The most expensive option is to get caught using something 'borrowed' from a 
CD.
