subject: System Choices

Hello Jodi, For $2,200 you could buy a system of carefully selected
seperates that would sound far far superior than the offerings of Technics,
Kenwood or Yamaha!!! With a little reading you will find that there are some
extraordinary audio pieces at very reasonable prices. I would highly rec the
periodical The Sensible Sound. This publication reviews audio gear and
reports findings...in search of quality for the least amount of money. You do
not have to spend $3,000 on an amp to have great sound. There are speaker
systems for under $500 that favorably compare with speaker systems costing 5
to 10 times as much.
You might also consider used gear too. Very often you can find what was
top rated gear and very expensive a year or two ago, selling for 25% of their
worth. Just invest a little time in reading and research. It will pay off.
I wouldn't even consider buying a "shake and bake" system from a single
company. Too many exceptional products out there to settle for average. Good
Luck in your hunt. Regards, John
