It's almost spring here. We have had 2 days above already and the
snow banks are shrinking. So it's time to switch from winter whisky
and brandy to summer gin. I've stocked up on tonic water, vermouth
and the makings for Singapore Slings.
There are many sling variations. The IBA standard is:
3 cl gin
1.5 cl cherry liqueur (such as maraschino)
0.75 cl Cointreau
0.75 cl DOM Benedictine
1 cl Grenadine
12 cl pineapple juice
1.5 cl fresh lime juice
1 dash Angostura bitters
My riff on it was simpler:
2 oz gin
1 tb cherry brandy
1 tsp triple sec
1 tsp Creme de Cassis
4 oz pineapple juice
1 tsp lemon juice
Shake with ice and strain into a highball glass.
It worked out fine.
