"sfm"?  You mean the "SupraFAXModem"?
I get 33600bps connects all the time with various USR users, and I use both
the SFM and the Supra Sonic here.  If your Supra is "33.6 cabable", and you
have 336 ROM code in it, you shouldn't have a problem.  (Well, and assuming
your telco lines are clean enough.)
