My TS-520 is kinda like that.  Some of the first models came with a 12vdc 
cable.  The later versions don't have this feature.

No idea, but building your own shouldn't be that complicated.  Buy one of 
those analog VFO's and convert it to digital.  Without looking, I'd say you 
could use an AD converter and drive a digital display with the output.
