Hi Irene,
IP> Yoo Hoo! Has anyone seen light magic? My daughter and I were fairly
IP> underwhelmed by the 2 hour tv special. Disneyland had been working
IP> on a replacement for the Electrical parade for the past four
IP> years--scrapping at least two different incarnations.
I saw the Annual Passholder Premiere on the 13th, the less said about
the evening the better. Hmmm, saw if on the 13th, but not a Friday.
Know that the effects shown in the commercials are not how they look in
person. I am hoping that in a few months, they will have all the bugs
worked out, and maybe develop a more definitive story for it. If you
do go to the park to see it, watch it on Main Street, the lighting
effects are much better there. Also, be forewarned that you need to
view the floats from right in front of them, otherwise you won't see
the film shown on the screens during part of the performance. All the
floats are the same, all the performances at each float are the same,
only the Disney characters vary per float, so if you view the show from
one float, you have seen it all, no need to check out another showing
from in front of another float (as with Lion King).
Seeing most of the end of the special, the scenes shown close up, with
the floats well lit, were all taped on another evening (probably the
media premiere). If you taped the special, what Light Magic really
looks like are the brief scenes as they cut away to commercials-- under
the blue lights, during that final half hour.
Wish I could say things were better, but, as someone who saw an early
showing, I came away confused about the story. I learned more about
what SHOULD have been apparent with the story from the special-- it did
clear up a bit of confusion for me, but someone just viewing it are
going to be confused.
