I finally got to see the Canyon.  I had been past the turn off better
than a half dozen times and we never had time.  My husband was tired and
made the mistake of letting me drive.  He was asleep and the sign said
turn left, so I did. We were about a mile from the gate when I woke him
up and asked if he would like to see the Canyon. Fortunately he said
yes. I've wondered since then what I would have done if he said
"no". It is awesome.
