If switching editors is not something that you want to do then you can use
Ghostscript along with the IBM EWS code pretty printer. CPOST by Patrick
Mueller of IBM converts C code to postscript or color postscript. It is C
and embedded SQL centric but source code is included if you wish to modify
it to support other languages. Make files are included for Cset and AIX.
It does headers and footers with timestamps, color syntax highlighting,
variable fonts etc. I have used it with the Ghostscript/2 DJ550C to print
listings on a HP Deskjet 855C. Its very pretty if you like those kinds of
things.

I would probably print more listings in color, unfortunately, Visual
SlickEdit my primary editor is not very good with listing output to the
printer. It does do very good screen syntax highlighting. I believe that
I read that Preditor/2 prints in color but that is not a freeware option.
