Well, I'll call the kettle black and you can blame the pot, no problem.
I'll just restate that I see this across several video drivers.

A manual refresh *always* clears any problem completely, but temporarily
(for an hour or two at the very least).

So who's the chicken and who's the egg here?  A operation which a user
performs on an icon sends a message that starts where?  In the display
driver?  Are you serious?
