BG> Mine is full on (800x600x64k res too) - what model is your Cirrus card?

it is a yum cha 5249 the only clue to the maker is the ubiquitous 'made

in china' sign. i cant notice any difference in performance

having dropped the hardware acceleration though, much better than my old

et4000 card.

mine works just as advertised, probably the best feature of win 95, drop

in an audio cd an it plays, drop in a cd-rom, and it switches back, but

then i only have a plain jane sound blaster single speed, not one of

these 4 engined turbo things (:

BG> Tried running Lantastic from Win95 yet? It's as flaky as buggery.

KR> no, we have novelle at work, and '95 is banned from the network on

KR> pain of instant dismissal!

BG> Although I've never met him, I like your system administrator already! :)

you must be into leather and whips (:

KR> i was at a customer site the other day, they are putting in a fair

KR> size network at present, and guess what - its wfwg.

BG> A pity, but what other choice is there? Warp Connect perhaps? Whatever,

BG> Win95 is far too unreliable as a server at this stage IMO (our workshop

BG> Win95 server crashes and burns at least once a day, and often even more

 BG> frequently.

probably novelle as server or possibly nt, and wfwg for the desktops, i

wouldn't bet the shop on either '95 or warp.

KR> its good to see that you are working in the industry now, i suppose

KR> that that is why your posts have dropped off. can i ask what you are

KR> doing?

BG> I have moved this here, as I don't want the world knowing all of my

BG> personal business, but I've been working for Computer Hand Holding at

BG> Lutwyche (Mike Richardson) for almost 4 weeks now, and although I'm at

BG> present employed as a technician (simple stuff, mainly upgrades, builds,

BG> general fault-finding and card-swapping etc), my primary role will be the

BG> technical manager for the new Qld Modem Superstore when it opens next

 BG> month.

thats good to hear, congratulations. all that monkeying about with

modems has paid off then.

BG> And yes, my email has suffered dreadfully as a result of having to leave

BG> home at 0700, and not getting back until around 1830 or later. Plus I'm

BG> required to work alternate Saturdays (which is a real PITA, I can tell

BG> you). One major bonus though, my phone bill will be considerably less

 BG> from now on. :)

i can sympathise about the hours, i leave at 0630, and get home about

1745 if i am lucky, and work almost every second weekend (got to install

a new disk unit this saturday night - a little one only 360 gigs). i am

trying to run a 6 million dollar account after 4 of the 9 guys have been

assigned to a new account, i am getting 2 new ones, but it doesn't make

it any easier. now my boss has resigned, so i'll have to run the new one

in as well. ah well i take great comfort from my group certificate (:
