Hello, Tom. -=> TOM WALKER wrote to JIM HOLSONBACK <=- -> PW> Guy down the street seems to be cleaning out his mess of 'puter stuff -> PW> and has a pretty big pile out on the street. Whoa! Calm down there, buckeroo - - I didn't tell Paul to throw anything away. Paul and I are personal friends (courtesy of this echo), and we talk back and forth via email much more often than we talk here in this echo. I guess I should've sent him a pvt email instead of posting here to encourage him to look for and grab an ATX case, if there was one in that curbware he posted here about. So, I knew (but you didn't know) that he already has a candidate ATX mainboard, Intel PGA370 cpu chip, an Asus 'slotket' card, and etc. for an "upgrade" to an ATX Slot1 system. Still needed for his "upgrade" are an ATX PS and case. So that is why I encouraged him to look for an ATX case in that pile of "curbware". TW> I have a 500 Mhz AT MB system running that will be perfectly servicable TW> for many years to come for what the "Typical Home Computer Does" I agree - - AMD K6-2 500 system is OK for awhile yet. But Paul's current fastest "desktop" system is a peg or 3 below that 500MHz speed. TW> In fact I have a need for two or three More. Similar where I volunteer - we got plenty of AT cases, PS and etc, but shortage of AT-compatible "Super 7" mainboards and shortage of the faster AMD chips. I haven't bought any AMD K6-2 450 and faster chips recently - - what are they now going for, and where to find those Super 7 Baby AT mainboards to put them in, and at what cost? Thanks - - - JimH. ... Good old days? Heck, Jim, what was good about them? - Bubba. --- MultiMail/MS-DOS v0.32* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
