Hi, Elvis.

I have a pretty good idea about how you feel. Alberta is burning and I
don't think the other western provinces are going to be far behind if
they aren't careful about where they let their sparks fly.
It was our turn about five years ago to have a mega-huge, totally out of
control forest fire. That was one was up around Baie Comeau. (Pity it
didn't take the town; I would have considered it divine retribution for
them giving us Lyin' Bryan Mulroney.)
The smoke from that fire was blown over a very wide area. It was enough
to discolor the atmosphere here in Quebec City, a hundred and few
kilometers distant, and it caused a bit of worry in the Baie de Chaleur
region of the Gaspe, a good 100 or so klicks across the river and on the
far side of the penninsula.
I went into the hospital to visit my mother one evening, and when I came
out the air was kind of brown and hazy and smelled like something was
burning. The local volunteer fire department sent one of their fellows
up through the park to see if a fire hadn't started close by.
EH> Please send us a hurricane.
Now there's something you don't hear every day.
