Not necessarily.  I don't know about its word processing and other
formats, but we had a heck of a time getting a Claris FileMaker 1
database into FileMaker Pro 3 format.  We had to find someone with
version 2 because 3 could read the 2 format but not the 1 format.
The 1 files had to be read and converted with 2, then the 2 files
read and converted with 3.
