KJ>I'd rather see someone get a FEW birds, good ones, and take proper care

Although I am a novice with birds, my x-wife and I used to show and
breed purebred Siberian Huskies, and I am well aware of the problems
that can result from uncaring breeding of any animal. We saw this
constantly with dogs. People breeding without having a clue as to
what they were doing, welping animals that not only were nowhere near
breed standards, but downright dangerous with many genetic faults.
We did not breed our dogs often, and when we did breed, we were very
careful to examine pedigrees and show histories and only used dogs
that we were familiar with from other breeders whom we knew had good
strong bloodlines. We bred for confirmation and also for personality,
to improve our own stock.
Seems to me an ethical bird breeder would do the same things we used to
do with the dogs.
It doesn't surprise me that a person would breed "cheap" birds, and it
makes me wonder if this lady knows anything about heredity, breed
standards, and genetics. If two trashy birds mate, their offspring
are going to be trashy also...and if people buy from her and then THEY
try to breed, it's going to affect THEIR birds, leading to more trashy
birds, and so forth - right down the line. This can't be good.
