RD>Dear Jane, It's interesting that you mention the research from the
RD>"Friends of Bill W." I happen to be one of them. I'm also a counselor,
RD>and although I'm qualified in Mental Health in general, my specialty is
RD>Chemical Dependency.
I'm a friend of Bob and have been for close to 28 years now.
ADHD and ADD appears to be a common factor in
RD>about 80% of the male population of treatment centers.
Far as I can see, this is a mutation, mild mutation, of some sort caused
by the consumption of one drug or another. Dyslexia is also common as
are other mild problems.
  Several
RD>companies have marketed dietary suppliments directly targeting
RD>alcoholics and cocaine addicts. These suppliments provide the "building
RD>blocks" for certain neurotransmitters that this population either
RD>genetically lacks or has damaged production due to their chemical use.
Which then directly affects both the REM and Alpha brain waves,
according to the research I got hold of. That also states that alcohol
tends to normalize these in the early stages of the disease, which is
the real reason that alcoholics drink.
RD>The case studies I have mentioned are being checked; and a friend of
RD>mine in family practise (an M.D.) and myself are looking to do some
RD>studies along these lines. The passionflower/chamomile compound also
RD>seems to relieve some of symptoms that are associated with panic
RD>attacks. This makes sense, since the parts of the brain and the
RD>neurotransmitters involved are interrelated. I'll be glad to share
RD>information as I get it. Rod
Go for it. This sort of thing is very important when psychiatrists are
determined to stuff 20 different kinds of pills into kids without doing
any real history. They are scary to listen to when you know what is
really going on.
And I am very interested in anything you have to say on this subject.
Are you aware that the Scots are convinced that salmon oil is magical
for alcoholics? The natives around here have the same opinion of that
fish.
