The only real problem is that you may have to put DOS on that
partition first just to keep W95 from insisting on using FAT32. 
Personally, I would avoid that like the plague.  Nothing as close to
write-only memory as a 'dead' OS that used an orphan FS.....

Hmmm.. My approach was slightly different.  First, I made HER swap the
motherboard in her original case for one 4 times as fast.  After that,
a full tower was her idea of the right size - the cuts and scratches
were eloquent arguments.  Then I added features: new sound card, extra
disk space, new video card, etc.  All the while I kept mentioning how a
laptop or discount store machine would fare trying to make upgrades. 
The crowning moment was when a teacher friend called to say she had
broken the display on the HP laptop the school system supplied her. 
She wanted to know about what it was going to cost to get it fixed. 
When my daughter heard the answer, that ended all discussion.  The
teacher thought I was joking - until she took it in....
