You should burn a copy of all your downloaded apps so's you can reinstall
them. I'm pretty sure it's possible to
do an upgrade rather than a reinstall but I haven't done one on Win9x for a
while - I've done 98SE to 2000 and
2000 to XP before so I'd've thought that 95 to 98 shouldn't be much of an
issue.  To do an upgrade you'd run
setup from within Windows (obviously, take a backup just incase).  After an
upgrade your programs *should* still work providing they're Win98-OK.  It
is better to do a wipe and fresh reinstall though, as Rich suggested.

So, after a backup, boot to Win95, pop in the 98 disk and run setup (look
for an "upgrade" option - I forget if
there's one there or not).
