I was jumping to the conclusion that the advice you read was actually referring to the reasonably common situation where someone wants to undertake W2000 certification. They get the evaluation Windows 2000 Advanced Server CD from Microsoft and install it on a couple of computers. Then they wonder if they should use XP Pro or Windows 2000 Professional on workstations. IMHO they should use W2000, just like the advice you saw.
